Family rolled building controls  

Kite & Lightning is a building controls company that I started with my father (Bill Hickner) and brother (Jason Hickner). The control systems we developed are installed in over 1,200 facilities across the country and have offset millions of dollars in energy use.

As a Co-Founder in a family-owned startup, I wore several hats across multiple functions, including design, business operations, hr/people, and finance. I directed and executed all design efforts from our core product design and branding to marketing, sales, and industrial design. Our small team earned several awards and widespread industry recognition as a leader in energy optimization and controls automation for small to mid-size buildings.
